IRVINE, Calif. - Senior Kelly Dianis (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) totaled 15 points and six rebounds as Lewis recorded their first road win of the season in a 64-53 victory at Concordia (Calif.) on Friday evening.
Lewis led for most of the contest, holding an 11-point advantage at halftime.
Dianis connected on a wide open 3-pointer on the left wing with three minutes left to put the contest away as Concordia tried to make a late run.
Sophomore Devon Carbaugh (Sterling, Ill./Sterling) had a season-high 14 points with six rebounds. Junior Jenny Turpel (Johnsburg, Ill/Johnsburg) finished with 10 points and six rebounds.
Lewis shot 39 percent from the floor. The Flyers made 8-of-14 free throws while Concordia connected on 8-of-15.
"We played well defensively but struggled from the free throw line and the floor," head coach Lisa Carlsen said. "We were able to get double-digit minutes for nine different players. That is good in a back-to-back situation."
Senior Amy Smith (Southgate, Mich./Anderson) was effective in just seven minutes of action.
"Amy came in and moved the ball well," Carlsen said. "The stats don't jump out at you in those minutes, but she helped us against their zone defense."
Concordia (Calif.) falls to 6-2. Lewis improves to 5-4. The Flyers face California Baptist on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. CT.
A Catholic university sponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, Lewis offers nearly 80 undergraduate majors and programs of study, accelerated degree completion options for working adults, various aviation programs and 22 graduate programs in nine fields.
