ALLENDALE, Mich. - Senior Kelly Dianis (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) made her 164th career 3-pointer to tie for third in the Lewis record book, however Grand Valley State defeated Lewis 71-56 in a non-conference road contest on Tuesday evening.

Lewis led by as many as six points in the first half, however Grand Valley State finished the half on a 9-2 run to grab a 30-24 lead at halftime.

The Flyers' came within five on a trey by junior Kady Currin (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) with 12:43 left at 49-44, however it would be as close as Lewis would get in the second half.

Dianis finished with 12 points. Junior Jenny Turpel (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) totaled 18 points and nine rebounds, just missing her third consecutive double-double. Currin added seven points, five assists, three steals and two blocks, but was hampered by six turnovers.

Lewis shot 37.7 percent (20-of-53) from the floor. Grand Valley State made 50 percent (27-of-54) of their attempts.

Both teams turned the ball over 19 times.

"We came in ready to play, I don't fault our effort but we can't turn it over 19 times and expect success," head coach Lisa Carlsen said. "We just didn't get enough quality shots in the second half."

The Lakers improve to 6-1. Lewis falls to 3-4. The Flyers have a quick turn around, hosting Trinity Christian on Thursday at 5 p.m.
