Evansville, Ind. - Competing in front of her home crowd, Lewis freshman Bayley Brown (Evansville, Ind./Evansville Central) claimed a pair of victories against Southern Indiana on Saturday afternoon, but Brown's performance was not enough, as the Screaming Eagles claimed the 6-3 Great Lakes Valley Conference win over the Flyers at the Tri-State Athletic Club.

At No. 2 doubles, Brown teamed up with classmate Katie Hargrove (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon) for the 8-6 win over USI's Gretchen Cantwell and Katie Jo Clagg. Brown would later pick up the 6-3, 6-3 triumph over Clagg at No. 4 singles.

Despite Brown's performance, Lewis head women's tennis coach Brett Bridel was not pleased with the outcome of Saturday's match.

"I was disappointed in our play today," Bridel said. "We did not look prepared to compete, and we cannot afford to let this kind of performance happen again."

With the win, Southern Indiana improves to 3-9 overall and 3-2 in GLVC action, while the Flyers fall to 6-6 on the campaign and 1-2 in conference play.

Senior Agata Wojciechowska (Des Plaines, Ill./Oakton C.C.) earned the other win for the Flyers, as she earned the 8-3 triumph over Reilly Ackerman at No. 1 singles.

Lewis returns to action on Sunday (March 29) morning as the Flyers square off with both SIU-Edwardsville (10 a.m.) and Truman State (2 p.m.).
