St. Louis, Mo. - Lewis University seniors Jordan Lynde (Rockford, Ill./Boylan) and Michelle Wright (Aurora, Ill./Rosary) were the lone Flyers to win on Friday, as the Flyers dropped a 5-1 decision at the hands of top-seeded, No. 26 Drury, in the opening round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Tennis tournament at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center.

Despite the loss, Lewis head women's tennis coach Brett Bridel thought his squad should hold their heads high.

"I am so proud of our ladies," Bridel said. "We came to play today and we got beat by a very good team. Every player battled and stuck to their game plan. No one likes to lose, but we played our best tennis of the season."

Lynde and Wright paired up at No. 3 doubles for the 9-8 (7-2) win over Drury's Lindsey Castrodale and Anna Lustig.

With the victory, Drury improves to 17-4 on the campaign, while the Flyers' season ends at 10-11.

A Catholic university sponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, Lewis offers nearly 80 undergraduate majors and programs of study, accelerated degree completion options for working adults, various aviation programs and 22 graduate programs in nine fields.
