Women's Tennis Dominates Maryville, 9-0

St. Louis, Mo. - The Lewis University women's tennis team turned in one of their most dominating performances to date as the Flyers lost just five games on their way to the 9-0 non-conference whitewash of Maryville on Thursday afternoon.

With the win, Lewis improves to 9-7 on the campaign, while the host Saints drop to 1-4 on the season.

Lewis senior Agata Wojciechowska (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine East/Oakton C.C.) and freshman Bayley Brown (Evansville, Ind./Evansville Central) got the ball rolling for the Flyers with an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles. Brown would later be victorious at No. 2 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Maryville's Kristen Vosevich.

Sophomore Clare Kessler (Onalaska, Wis./Aquinas) and freshman Maggie Novack (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) claimed the 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles over the Saints' Tracy Welsh and Beth Nunn. Novack disposed of Nunn at No. 3 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 victory, while Kessler earned the 6-0, 6-0 win over Karen Schwarm at No. 4 singles.

At No. 3 doubles, Lewis seniors Jordan Lynde (Rockford, Ill./Boylan) and Michelle Wright (Aurora, Ill./Rosary) blanked Maryville's Schwarm and Rachel Utsler, 8-0. Lynde also picked up a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Anne Kilian at No. 5 singles, while Wright downed Utsler at No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-0.

Lewis freshman Katie Hargrove (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon) rounded out the Flyer victories with a 6-0, 6-0 blanking of Welsh at No. 1 singles.

Lewis returns to the court on Friday morning, as they travel to Kansas City to square off with Rockhurst for a 9 a.m. first serve at the Woodside Tennis Club.
