ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Lewis women's soccer squad tied the Maryville Saints 1-1 in a road Great Lakes Valley Conference contest on Sunday.

Junior Jessica Summers-Hernandez (Phoenix, Ariz./Pinnacle) scored 1:57 into the game on an assist by senior Amy Foran (Batavia, Ill/Batavia). Maryville tied it up on a penalty kick by Britta Orso with 15 minutes remaining in the first half. It stayed tied at one the rest of the way.

"I thought our defense did a better job organizing and limiting their chances than we did on Friday," head coach Chris Koenig said. "But offensively we just couldn't finish. We hit the post, had a number of corners and just couldn't capitalize."

The Flyers held a 7-3 edge in corner kicks. Lewis goaltender junior Megan George (Wauseon, Ohio/Wauseon) made 11 saves.

Lewis is 1-3-2 (0-2-1 GLVC). Maryville is 1-3-1 (1-1-1 GLVC). Lewis plays their first home conference game of the year on Friday at noon against Missouri-St. Louis.

A Catholic university sponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, Lewis offers nearly 80 undergraduate majors and programs of study, accelerated degree completion options for working adults, various aviation programs and 22 graduate programs in nine fields.
