QUINCY, Ill. - Senior Stephanie Sagat (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South) hit .400 with 10 kills in just two sets to help No. 13 Lewis sweep Great Lakes Valley Conference foe Quincy 25-20, 25-18, 25-19 Saturday afternoon at the Pepsi Arena.

Sophomore Colleen Mitros (Mokena, Ill./Providence) recorded five kills, five digs and two aces. Senior Sara deBuhr (Urbandale, Iowa/Urbandale) recorded six kills on eight swings. Freshman Mary Carroll (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) added five kills with no errors. Redshirt senior Ashlee Lindish (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) had nine digs. All four Flyers played only two sets a piece.

"Everyone hit really well today," head coach Lorelee Smith said of her team's .323 hitting percentage.

Lewis trailed the opening frame 20-18 before scoring the final seven points of the set. Quincy used both of their timeouts but couldn't halt the Flyers' momentum during the run. Junior setter Rachel Ruedi (Mahomet, Ill./Mahomet Seymour) had three kills during the stretch. Junior Lauren Seliga (St. Louis, Mo./Nerinx) finished the set with an ace.

Lewis easily won set two but trailed the third 13-10 until going on an 11-3 stretch that ended the Lady Hawks' hopes. Mitros ended the match with a kill on match point.

"We played pretty scrappy today," Smith said. "We hustled and ran some balls down. We started slow in all three games though and we'll need to work on that."

Quincy falls to 2-13 (1-3 GLVC). Lewis improves to 14-3 (4-0 GLVC).

The Flyers return home for a pair of GLVC matches this weekend. Lewis hosts Missouri-St. Louis on Friday at 7 p.m. and then faces Missouri S&T at 4 p.m. on homecoming.
