QUINCY, Ill. - The Lewis women's basketball team snapped No. 17 Quincy's 33-game regular season home win-streak on Thursday evening with an impressive 86-73 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory.

Junior Kady Currin (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) had a career-high 22 points thanks to going a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line. Junior Jenny Turpel (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) recorded a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds. It's the fourth consecutive game she's notched a double-double. She leads the conference with six this season.

The game started bleak for the Flyers after Quincy opened up a quick 10-3 advantage. However back-to-back 3-pointers by senior Kelly Dianis (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) and junior Kelly Monaco (Chicago, Ill./Resurrection) gave the Flyers an 18-16 lead nine minutes into the game. Lewis took a 29-20 advantage thanks to a 9-0 run minutes later. Currin pushed the halftime score to 50-35 in favor of the Flyers by scoring four points in the final 10 seconds. She made a jumper with nine seconds remaining and then a pair of free throws following a technical foul of Quincy head coach J.D. Gravina.

Quincy chipped at the lead in the second half, cutting the Lewis lead to six on three occasions. However each time the Flyers responded with a basket. The big shot came with 2:24 remaining when Dianis drained her fourth 3-pointer of the game to give the Flyers a 74-65 lead.

The Flyers, who made 21-of-22 free throws on the night, didn't let the Lady Hawks back in the game the final two minutes.

"We knew they'd make a run in the second half and we were able to weather the storm," head coach Lisa Carlsen said. "I was pleased with the way we defended the arc tonight."

Quincy made just 2-of-13 shots from 3-point range.

Dianis finished with 14 points thanks to four treys. Freshman Labrenthia Murdock (Round Lake, Ill./Round Lake) added 10. Monaco totaled nine off the bench thanks to a trio of 3-pointers.

"Tonight was the best we've played offensively all year," Carlsen said. "Good things happened when we put the ball inside first. Either Jenny scored or she kicked it out. We had good balance tonight. It was a great team effort."

Quincy falls to 10-3 (2-3 GLVC). Lewis improves to 7-7 (3-2 GLVC). The Flyers play at conference newcomer Illinois-Springfield on Saturday. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m.
