ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Junior Kelsie Brown (Warren, Mich./Cousino) scored with just under six minutes remaining in regulation to force overtime against Ferris State on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference women's soccer match. The Flyers and Bulldogs would finish in a 1-1 tie after two overtimes.

Following a scoreless first half, Ferris State scored the game's first goal at 69:01. Kristen March delivered a long free kick into the box and found Kasey Ruimveld open. Ruimveld headed the ball into the net for her second goal of the year.

It looked like the game might end 1-0 until Lewis knotted it up with less than six minutes remaining in regulation.

Much like Ferris State's goal, it was set up by a long free kick. Sophomore Jenny Hyde (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake)'s (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake) boot went through the box to Brown and Brown kicked it in for her first career goal.

Lewis outshot Ferris State 8-0 in extra time. Lewis' best chance in the first session came in the final moments when Brown nearly knocked in a corner kick with four seconds remaining.

In the second overtime session, sophomore Libby Cooper (Batavia, Ill/Batavia/UW-Milwaukee) used her speed to earn a breakaway at 103:34. Ferris State goaltender Rachel McCollum came out to challenge Cooper and blocked Cooper's shot.

Lewis had another chance, this time with under a minute remaining. Senior Jessica Summers-Hernandez (Phoenix, Ariz./Pinnacle) saw her shot from the right side go off the left post.

Freshman Arianna Nie (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) earned her first career start and made five saves for the Flyers.

Lewis finished with a 21-10 edge in shots

Lewis is now 5-7-1 while Ferris State is 6-5-2. Lewis hosts Illinois-Springfield on Friday at 2:30 in the 2010 home finale for the Flyers.
