ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Lewis women's soccer moved their Great Lakes Valley Conference record back to .500 with a 3-0 victory over Illinois-Springfield on Friday afternoon at the Lewis Soccer Field.

The Flyers made it 2-0 going into halftime thanks to a goal by sophomore Fran Abate (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett). Summers-Hernandez earned the assist on the goal.

Lewis made it 3-0 at 54:28 on the same combination as the previous goal. This time Abate earned a breakaway to score thanks to a pass by Summers-Hernandez.

"I'm really happy for the seniors to win their last home match," head coach Chris Koenig said. "Jessica's goal and two assists is a great way to finish a career at home."

Abate brings her season goal total to five. Summers-Hernandez now has three goals on the year.

Lewis held a 16-9 edge in shots. Only three of UIS' nine shots were on goal.

"We've had lots of shots in the last three games as the attacking has really picked up," Koenig said.

Lewis is currently ninth in the GLVC, one spot from qualifying for the GLVC Tournament

"We got the result we needed to give ourselves a chance this weekend." Koenig said. "We've been a tough team to play at home now we need to make a final push on the road."
