Romeoville, Ill. - The train keeps rolling for the Lewis University men's soccer team and junior forward Aloiso Barros (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Colegio Pampulha/Marshalltown C.C.) served as the conductor on Friday (Oct. 15) afternoon, as his hat trick helped extend the Flyers' winning streak to nine matches with the 3-1 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over UIS at the Lewis Soccer Field.

Lewis' nine-game winning streak is the Flyers' longest since they collected 10 victories in a row in 2007. Barros' hat trick is the Flyers' second in their last three games, as senior forward Armin Vrebac accomplished the same feat against UW-Parkside last Friday.

"Al had a very productive day out there," Lewis head men's soccer coach Evan Fiffles said. "The winning streak is nice, but now we have to put our focus towards Truman State on Sunday."

With the win, Lewis improves to 10-3 overall and 10-2 in GLVC action, while the Prairie Stars drop to 1-11-1 overall and 1-10-1 in conference play.

Barros opened up the scoring at the 15:20 mark off a corner kick, as he converted a corner kick from freshman Cristhian Ramirez (Wheeling, Ill./Wheeling/Emerald Coast United Academy) to give the Flyers a 1-0 lead.

He added another score just before the half, as he took a cross pass from Vrebac in the 41st minute to give the Flyers the 2-0 lead heading into the intermission.

Barros added the final touch on his hat trick in the second half, as he converted the Flyers' first penalty kick of the season to extend Lewis' lead to 3-0.

UIS scored its lone goal of the afternoon at the 65:28 mark, as Arturo Cruz beat Lewis back-up goalkeeper Alec Pickett (Mokena, Ill./Providence). Juan Perez and Frank Rodriguez assisted on the play.

Lewis returns to action on Sunday (Oct. 17) for `Senior Day' as the Flyers welcome Truman State for a 12 PM first kick.
