KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Lewis women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision at Great Lakes Valley Conference foe Rockhurst on Friday evening. All four goals came in the first half.
Rockhust scored the game's first two goals. Danielle Boyce scored for the Hawks at 12:55. Taylor Stitt assisted on the goal. Boyce found the back of the net on a shot 22 yards from the goal.
Rockhurst made it a 2-0 game about five minutes later. Morgan Dahm scored from eight yards out. Abby Davidson and Haley Long assisted on the tally.
Lewis got on the board at 28:42 on a goal by sophomore Fran Abate (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett). She scored from seven yards out by shooting into the right corner. The tally was her seventh of the year. Junior Kelsie Brown (Warren, Mich./Cousino) earned the assist.
Morgan scored her second goal of the game for Rockhurst just 11 seconds before the halftime buzzer. Her shot deflected in off the crossbar. Sheila Helms assisted on the goal. The tally made it 3-1 and it stayed that way following a scoreless second half.
"On their first two goals we didn't have quality clearances and they finished," head coach Chris Koenig said. "The final goal hurt because if we went into the second half 2-1 it could have been a fun second half."
Despite the loss, Lewis held a 13-11 edge in shots.
Rockhurst improves to 9-6-1 (7-5-1 GLVC). Lewis falls to 6-8-1 (6-7-0 GLVC). The Flyers are at Quincy on Sunday.
