ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - No. 14 women's volleyball out-hit Maryville .368 to .144 on their way to a 25-18, 25-19, 25-13 sweep of the Saints on Friday evening at Neil Carey Arena in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match.

The contest was senior night for Lewis as four Flyers who were playing their final home match were honored. Senior Lauren Seliga (St. Louis, Mo./Nerinx) had nine digs and seven kills. Senior Kelly McConkey (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) totaled nine digs and two kills. Senior Rachel Ruedi (Mahomet, Ill./Mahomet Seymour) totaled 20 assists, five digs and two aces. Graduate student Adria Phillips (South Bend, Ind./Riley/Indiana) added three kills and three digs.

"The seniors have led the team all season long," head coach Lorelee Smith said. "To have all four of them on the court for two full games and to have ball control, communication and everything else fantastic is the way it should be when you have seniors out there."

The closest set was the second. It featured eight ties and three lead changes. Maryville trailed by one at 17-16 when Lewis took control of the frame with four straight points. Phillips and Seliga each had a kill during the push.

The Flyers were boosted by a large vocal Halloween crowd, including one group of fans looking suspiciously similar to Coach Smith and the Flyers.

The victory gave Lewis a 9-0 record at home this year. It's the third consecutive season the Flyers have gone undefeated at home during the regular season.

"The entire team and I are very appreciative of how great our fans are," Smith said. "They are a huge reason why we've had so much success at home."

Lewis improves to 21-4 (11-1 GLVC). Maryville falls to 4-22 (2-9 GLVC). Lewis returns to the court next Friday with a conference match at Rockhurst.
