SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - No. 11 Lewis women's volleyball, fresh off clinching a regular season Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship on Friday night, swept Drury on Saturday afternoon 25-19, 26-24, 25-17. The win improves Lewis to 23-4 overall and 13-1 in the GLVC.

Lewis out-blocked the Panthers 13.0 to 4.0. Junior Hannah Koeneman (New Haven, Ind./Woodlan) recorded eight blocks (three solo). She also hit .409 with a match-best 11 kills.

"Hannah blocked really well all weekend," head coach Lorelee Smith said. "Offensively she was our go to hitter for most of the match today."

Senior Lauren Seliga (St. Louis, Mo./Nerinx) totaled nine kills and nine digs. Senior Danielle Mount (Crest Hill, Ill./Lockport) added eight kills and four block assists. Senior Rachel Ruedi (Mahomet, Ill./Mahomet Seymour) compiled 33 assists for an average of 11 per set.

The opening set was tied at nine when Lewis took control with an 8-1 run.

"I felt like we had a sluggish start similar to the one we had at UMSL earlier in the season, but we were able to elevate our play today," Smith said.

The second set featured 12 ties and seven lead changes. Lewis led 23-19 when Drury scored five consecutive points to take a 24-23 lead and earn set point. A Ruedi solo block knotted the score at 24. Back-to-back attack errors by Drury gave Lewis the set.

Drury held a 10-8 edge in the third set before Lewis went on a 14-4 run to take control of the set and the match. Seliga and Ruedi had kills for the 24th and 25th points for Lewis.

Drury falls to 22-12 (8-6 GLVC). The Flyers and Panthers will have a rematch in the first round of the GLVC Tournament. The No. 1 seeded Lewis will host No. 8 Drury on Friday evening at Neil Carey Arena. First serve is slated for 7:30 p.m.
