JOLIET, Ill. - Four Flyers finished in double-digits on Sunday afternoon as the Lewis women's basketball team defeated St. Francis 76-58 for a road non-conference victory.
Sophomore Labrenthia Murdock (Round Lake, Ill./Round Lake) had a game-high 19 points with eight rebounds, five assists, five steals and a block for the Flyers. Senior Carol Kruckman (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) came off the bench to total 14 points and six rebounds. Freshman Lauren Mead (Wauconda, Ill./Wauconda) added eight points and six boards.
The Flyers led 35-33 at halftime, but outscored the Fighting Saints 20-6 over the first 11 minutes of the second half.
"We were able to get some easy baskets in transition after halftime," head coach Lisa Carlsen said. "Carol and Lauren gave us some good minutes off the bench."
Senior Kady Currin (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) had nine of her 13 points in the second half. Senior Jenny Turpel (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) added 10 points and eight rebounds.
The Flyers shot 46.2 percent (30-of-65) while limiting St. Francis to 38.7 percent (24-of-62) shooting.
St. Francis falls to 5-9 while Lewis improves to 6-4. The Flyers take an extended break before returning to the court on Sunday, Jan. 2 at 5:30 p.m. against Bellarmine.
