KENOSHA, Wis. - The Flyers took game one against UW-Parkside 2-0 on Sunday afternoon thanks to a stellar pitching performance by sophomore Pat Lahey (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South). Game two was tied at two when UW-Parkside scored two in the seventh inning. Lewis plated one in the eighth and left runners at second and third to end the game as they came up short in game two 4-3.

Lahey moved his record to 2-1 with a complete game victory in game one. He went all seven innings allowing just three singles and a walk. Junior Richard Forkin (Orland Park, Ill./Lockport) singled three times and scored an insurance run in the seventh off a RBI sacrifice fly by junior Miguel Amesquita (Hometown, Ill./Brother Rice/Triton). Lewis scored their first run of the game in the third inning. Freshman Zach Stetson (Kankakee, Ill./Herscher) tripled to leadoff the inning and scored on a Derek Thomas (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Kennedy) RBI sacrifice fly.

Lewis took a 2-0 lead in game two with single runs in the first two innings. UW-Parkside tied it with runs in the fourth and fifth. Freshman Matt Frahm (McLean, Ill./Olympia) took the loss (1-3) for Lewis, allowing four hits, four runs (three earned) and two walks in six innings.

Frahm ran into trouble in the seventh. Following a walk to start the inning the following Rangers batter bunted however Lewis couldn't get an out on the play. UW-Parkside bunted again and an error on Lewis catcher freshman Brian Norwood (Medinah, Ill./Lake Park) loaded the bases. Sophomore Drew Hicks (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) came in and walked the first batter he saw to give UW-Parkside the lead. However he earned a fielders choice and a double play to limit the damage to just two runs.

Amesquita doubled to leadoff the eighth and scored on a RBI single by sophomore Michael Wido (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South). In the ninth, Lewis had runners on first and second with one out and Forkin at the plate. He grounded out to second to put Amesquita at the bat with two outs. He grounded back to the pitcher to end the game.

Lewis left nine runners on base in game two and held a nine to five edge in hits.

UW-Parkside is now 9-16 (4-8 Great Lakes Valley Conference). Lewis is 14-15 (5-7 GLVC). The Flyers host GLVC East Division leading Northern Kentucky this Friday and Saturday in a pair of doubleheaders.
