Women's Tennis Wins Third-Straight With 8-1 Triumph Over Quincy

Quincy, Ill. - The Lewis University women's tennis team won its third consecutive match in as many days, as the Flyers earned the 8-1 Great Lakes Valley Conference road win over Quincy on Sunday (Apr. 11) afternoon.

With the win, Lewis improves to 8-6 on the season, while the host Hawks drop to 5-9 on the campaign.

Lewis' regionally-ranked Jana Schulz (Recklinghausen, Germany/Theodor-Heuss Gymnasium) and Bayley Brown (Evansville, Ind./Evansville Central) won at No. 1 doubles with the 8-6 triumph over Quincy's Pam and Leslie Ganer. Schulz later claimed the 6-0, 6-0 win over Pam Ganer at No. 1 singles, while Brown dropped Anele Novak at No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-2.

At No. 2 doubles, Lewis junior Clare Kessler (Onalaska, Wis./Aquinas) and sophomore Katie Hargrove (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon) earned the 8-2 victory over Lauren Henry and Novak. Hargrove added a 6-4, 6-2, win over Leslie Ganer at No. 3 singles.

Flyer sophomore Maggie Novack (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) and freshman Jody Wagner (Avon, Ohio/Avon) teamed up at No. 3 doubles for the 8-2 win over Michelle Bertelsman and Megan Marsot. Novack later picked up the 6-2, 6-0 win over Henry at No. 4 singles and Wagner took the 7-5, 6-1 win over Bertelsman at No. 5 singles.

Lewis returns to action on Friday (Apr. 16) afternoon, as they welcome Bellarmine to the Jack Oremus Complex for a 2 PM (CST) first serve.
