Romeoville, Ill. - The three-match winning streak for the Lewis University women's tennis team came to an end on Friday (Apr. 16) afternoon, as the host Flyers dropped a 6-3 Great Lakes Valley Conference decision at the hands of Bellarmine at the Jack Oremus Tennis Complex.
With the win, Bellarmine improves to 12-4 overall and 3-2 in GLVC action, while the Flyers fall to 8-7 on the campaign and 2-3 in conference play.
Flyer sophomore Maggie Novack (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) and freshman Jody Wagner (Avon, Ohio/Avon) picked up Lewis' only doubles win at No. 3 with a 8-4 triumph over Abby Day and Keyly Knechtel.
Sophomore Katie Hargrove (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon) won her third-straight singles match with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-0 come-from-behind win over Emily Roebker at No. 3. Hargrove's doubles partner, Clare Kessler (Onalaska, Wis./Aquinas) was also successful at No. 6 singles with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Knechtel.
Lewis returns to action on Saturday (Apr. 17), as the Flyers welcome regionally-ranked Northern Kentucky to the Jack Oremus Tennis Complex for a 10 AM first serve.
