Midland, Mich. - Lewis University's remarkable 2010 men's tennis campaign came to an end on Thursday (May 6) afternoon, as No. 15 Northwood defeated the visiting Flyers, 5-0, in the opening round of the NCAA Men's Tennis Tournament.
Lewis ends the season with a record of 16-8, while the Timberwolves improve to 14-4 and will take on either Southern Indiana or Ferris State in the second round. Lewis finished with four wins for the entire 2009 season.
"We did not execute in doubles and it put us in a big hole today," Lewis head men's tennis coach Brett Bridel said. "The guys fought hard in singles, but we had zero room for error.
"It was, however, a great accomplishment for us to get to the national tournament and we look forward to improving on that performance next season."
