BOCA RATON, Fla. - The No. 16 Flyers defeated Rollins 3-1 (25-21, 20-25, 25-21, 25-20) Friday morning thanks in part to the play of two of the newest Flyers, sophomore transfers Carly Perschnick (Dwight, Ill./Dwight Township/Nova Southeastern) and Jen Krumwiede (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial/IPFW).
Perschnick hit .387 with 15 kills while Krumwiede added hit .310 with 13 kills, 12 digs and four aces. Junior Hannah Koeneman (New Haven, Ind./Woodlan) totaled 11 kills with a .387 attack percentage. Rollins led for much of the first set, holding a 17-15 advantage before a 5-1 Lewis run turned the tide. Perschnick had a pair of kills during the stretch.
After dropping the second set, Lewis came back to win the third. The Flyers led 21-12 before Rollins made it close 23-21, but back-to-back Rollins errors gave the set to the Flyers.
