ROLLA, Mo.
– Missouri S&T's Colleen Lewis knocked in a loose ball 7:58 into overtime to hand Lewis University women's soccer a 2-1 setback on Friday evening in a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest.

The teams played a scoreless first half with the Flyers holding a 6-3 edge in shots in the opening frame. The Lady Miners struck fast in the second half, scoring at 48:12. Missouri S&T's Leah Williams connected on a shot from the near wing into the far corner.

Missouri S&T's lead lasted less than 15 minutes. Lewis junior Shelley Hadlock (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) jumped on a rebound in front of the goal to tie the score at 62:29.

It stayed tied until Missouri S&T's overtime goal.

“When we got the equalizer it felt like the next one was going to come,” head coach Chris Koenig said. “Down the stretch their keeper made a few saves on nice chances we had.”

Both teams finished with five shots on goal during the game. Lewis held a 10-0 edge in corner kicks.

Missouri S&T improves to 5-8-1 (5-8-0 GLVC). Lewis falls to 6-7-1 (6-6-1 GLVC). The Flyers are 0-3-1 in overtime games this season.

“Credit to them, they had a lot of energy on senior night but we haven't had that ability to take it to the next level in overtime,” Koenig said.

The Flyers are at Drury on Sunday for a noon start.
