Following a two-game trip to Kentucky, the Lewis women's basketball team (4-13, 2-7 GLVC) returns home to face Indianapolis on Thursday (Jan. 26) at 5:30 p.m. It is a rematch of the 2010-11 GLVC Championship game. The contest will be aired live on Lakeshore Public Television. Scott Slocum and Sarah Kwasinski will team for the broadcast. WJOL 1340 AM and WLRA 88.1 FM will broadcast the game over radio. Live stats, audio and video streaming can be found at www.LewisFlyers.com.

AGAINST THE GREYHOUNDS - Indianapolis leads the all-time series with the Flyers 31-27. Lewis head coach Lisa Carlsen is 3-4 against Indianapolis since becoming the Flyers' head coach in 2007-08.

LAST TIME WE MET - Lewis defeated Indianapolis 71-68 on March 6, 2011 at Maryville University in the 2010-11 GLVC Championship game. Indianapolis led just once in the game, 56-55 with 6:34 remaining. Sam Rinehart (Marion, Iowa/Marion) and Devon Carbaugh (Sterling, Ill./Sterling) followed with layups to push Lewis' advantage to three points. Lewis would never again trail in the contest.

FOR STARTERS - Lewis has used nine starting lineup combinations this season.

WRITE HER NAME IN INK - Freshman point guard Jamie Johnson (South Holland, Ill./Marian Catholic) is the only Flyer to have started every game for the Flyers.

IT'S NIKKI...NI-NI-NI-NIKKI - Nikki Nellen (New Berlin, Wis./Pius XI) has started the last four games for Lewis and has made the most of her opportunity. Against UIS she scored 10 points, all in the second half. Thursday at Bellarmine she recorded a career-high 14 points and nine assists. She played a team-high 34 minutes in the contest at Bellarmine and a team-high 37 at Northern Kentucky.

REINHART OF GOLD - Freshman Jess Reinhart (Normal, Ill./Bloomington Central Catholic) has also started the last four games for Lewis. She's scored in double-figures in each game and is shooting 57.1 percent (20-of-35) from the floor in the three contests. She is the first freshman to score in double-digits in four straight games since Jenny Turpel (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) did so in seven games in 2007-08.

HELPING HAND - Nikki Nellen (New Berlin, Wis./Pius XI)'s nine assists against Bellarmine on Jan. 19 were the most for a Lewis freshman since Brittney Diener recorded 10 against Missouri-St. Louis on Jan. 29, 2004.

JOHNSON & JOHNSON - In conference games only, freshman Jamie Johnson (South Holland, Ill./Marian Catholic) ranks 10th in the GLVC in assists per game (3.25). She is the only freshman in the top 15 in the category. She recorded seven assists against Maryville on Jan. 5, a career-best for the young Flyer.

HOW YOUNG ARE THEY? - Lewis' eight newcomers have combined to play 1620 minutes, or 47.0 percent of the available court time. The newcomers have scored 440 points, or 41.6 percent of Lewis' 1058 points.

THEY'RE SO YOUNG... - Lewis started four freshmen (Johnson, Nellen, Itschner, Reinhart) with sophomore Lauren Mead (Wauconda, Ill./Wauconda) against UIS on Jan. 14. It's the first time Lewis started four freshmen in a game since Nov. 21, 2003 when Darcee Schmidt (Machesney Park, Ill./Harlem), Mary Moskal (Cherry Valley, Ill./Rockford Boylan), Erin Cox (Lena, Ill./Lena-Winslow) and Brittney Diener (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac) started against Grand Valley State in Allendale, Mich. Lewis won the contest 60-57.

REJECTED - Sophomore Lauren Mead (Wauconda, Ill./Wauconda) ranks fourth in the GLVC in blocked shots per game with a 1.25 average. She's recorded a block in all but three games she's played in this year. She totaled four against McKendree on Nov. 14.

PERFECT FROM BEYOND THE ARC - Lewis made all five of their second half 3-point attempts against Southern Indiana on Dec, 1. The last time Lewis made every 3-point attempt in a half was when the Flyers drained all five attempts in the first half against Butler on Nov. 21, 2004. Lewis dropped the game at Hinkle Fieldhouse 71-59.

TAKING IT AWAY - The Flyers recorded 20 steals against BYU-Hawaii on Nov. 24th. It was the first time Lewis earned 20 steals in a game since recording 20 at Kentucky Wesleyan on Jan. 20, 2005.

ADDING AN ALL-AMERICAN - Hannah Koeneman (New Haven, Ind./Woodlan) joined the Lewis women's basketball team on Dec. 8. The name might be familiar to those around the GLVC as she was an American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America Third Team selection as a senior right side hitter for Lewis in 2011. Koeneman recorded a team-high 299 kills with 91 blocks for the Flyers in 2011 and helped Lewis to a 25-7 record. The 6-2 forward with junior status for basketball last played organized basketball in high school.

UP NEXT - Lewis travels to Saint Joseph's on Saturday for a 1 p.m. CT tip.
