Romeoville, Ill. - The Lewis University women's soccer was shutout by Quincy, 3-0, on Friday (Oct. 12) at Lewis Stadium.

The Flyers fall to 7-5-1 on the season and 5-5-1 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play while the Hawks improve to 11-2-1, 9-2 in the GLVC. 

Quincy scored their first goal in the 16th minute, when Lewis goalkeeper Arianna Nie (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) came far out of the box to defend the shot, but Ashley Burton was able to regroup and put the ball past the deep Lewis defender. 

The Flyers were out shot by the Hawks (12-5) and only earned one corner in the contest. 

Sophomore Susan Thomas (Algonquin, Ill./Marian Central Catholic) had two of Lewis' three shots on goal against Quincy goalkeeper Jodi Chapie. 

Qunicy added on to their lead in the second half when Burton assisted on Brittany Casey's goal in the 60th minute. Lori Mannion and Maddie Torretta aided Kayla Nurmberger's header in the 79th minute of the game to push the score to 3-0. 

Lewis is back in action on Sunday (Oct. 14) against Illinois Springfield with a 2:30 PM kick off at Lewis Stadium.
