Lewis Women's Basketball Heads To Lincoln Memorial In Programs' First Match-Up

The Flyers look to extend their winning streak to three games

Romeoville, Ill. - The Lewis University women's basketball team (5-1) looks to extend their winning streak to three games as the team heads out on the road to take on Lincoln Memorial (5-4) in the first-ever meeting between the schools on Sunday (Dec. 16) at Turner Arena in Harrogate, Tenn. 

SCOUTING THE LADY RAILSPLITTERS - Coach Roger Hodge is in his second season at the helm of the LMU squad. They jump out of South Atlantic Conference play for a second-straight game to host the Flyers. LMU defeated Concord Dec. 8th on the road, 60-55.  The Lady Railsplitters are led by junior guard/forward MaRanda Boddie, averaging 9.4 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game.

ALL TIME SERIES - This is the first meeting between the two schools.  

LAST TIME OUT - The Flyers defeated their second-straight CCAC team on Dec. 6, when Judson fell 68-42 at Neil Carey Arena. Freshman Mariyah Henley led the Flyers with her first double-double at Lewis with 10 points and 13 rebounds.

NATIONAL RANKINGS - The Flyers are No. 13 nationally with a scoring average of 78.5 points-per-game while the team's 3-point field goal percentage (42.3) puts them sixth. 

NELLEN NATIONALLY RANKED - Sophomore guard Nikki Nellen is 14th nationally, averaging 5.7 assists per game. 

BLOCKING BACKCOURT- Sophomore guard Kristin Itschner leads the squad with five blocks. 

SIXTH WOMAN - Junior guard Alexus Grayer's number 23 has been the first number Head Coach Lisa Carlsen has called out as a reserve in five of six games this season. Grayer is averaging 9.0 points and 3.5 rebounds in 18.8 minutes of play. 

FEARLESS FRESHMAN - Guard Alyssa Dengler, averaging 13.3 minutes a game, has only committed one turnover and been whistled for only one foul this season. 

ALL-TIMER - Senior Labrenthia Murdock has etched her name into Lewis' All-Time record books. Murdock's career numbers put her 10th in total blocked shots (65). 

NUMBERS VS THE GLVC - The Flyers rank in the Top-4 in eight different categories overall in the GLVC. 

- 1st in 3-point field goal percentage (.452)

- 2nd in points (78.5) and rebounds-per-game (43.7) average

- 3rd in assists (17.2) and defensive rebounds-per-game (29.8); made 3-point field goals (41 total, 6.8 per-game)

FLYERS STACKING UP IN GLVC - Nellen's 5.7 assists-per-game average and Murdock's .588 3-point field goal percentage (10-for-17) tops the GLVC. Reinhart is second with 16.3 points-per-game average and tied for eighth with 7.8 rebounds-per-game
