Romeoville, Ill. -
The Lewis University men's basketball team held its fourth-straight opponent to under 40.0% shooting to extend its winning streak to five games with the 64-45 non-conference victory over Northern Michigan at Neil Carey Arena on Sunday (Dec. 30) afternoon.

Northern Michigan shot 30.2% (16-for-53) from the field and committed 18 turnovers, which led to 22 Flyer points. It also marks the fourth time this season that Lewis has held an opponent to less than 50 points.

With the win, Lewis improves to 6-2 on the campaign, while the Wildcats are now 2-8 on the season. It is the longest winning streak by a Flyer squad since the 2009-10 season when they went 5-0 in December.

"I thought we played okay, considering we had been off for about 11-12 days," Lewis head men's basketball coach Scott Trost said. "It was good to get back into the swing of things and get a win against an in-region opponent.

"Hopefully we worked off some of that rust and we can continue to make progress every day."

Lewis sophomore guard Ryan Jackson (Bolingbrook, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) (Bolingbrook, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) posted a game-high 14 points and four steals to pace the Flyers. Jackson has scored at least 10+ points in his last 12 games. Jackson's backcourt mate Jeff Jarosz (Lyons, Ill./Morton) (Lyons, Ill./Morton) added 12 points and four steals, while sophomore guard Gabe Williams (Chicago, Ill./Farragut) (Chicago, Ill./Farragut) tied a career-high with 11 points off of the bench.

Jackson, Williams and David Niggins (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) all converted two three-pointers as the Flyers knocked down eight trifectas on the afternoon, shooting 47.1% (8-for-17) from behind the arc. Niggins finished with six points and six rebounds.

Northern Michigan junior forward Matthew Craggs led the Wildcats with 10 points and six rebounds.

Lewis opens the Great Lakes Valley Conference season on Thursday (Jan. 3), as the Flyers head to Springfield, Mo., to square off with Drury. Tip-off is set for 8 PM.
