Romeoville, Ill. - With the game on the line, the William Jewell men's basketball team made their free throws when it mattered, as the Cardinals knocked down 8-for-10 of their charity tosses in the final minute to hold on to the 73-69 Great Lakes Valley Conference over Lewis University at Neil Carey Arena on Thursday (Jan. 10) night.
William Jewell junior guard Ricky Tisdale was 4-for-6 in the final 60 seconds and scored a team-high 17 points. Devonte Bell (4 points) scored all of his points from the charity stripe in the last minute, going 4-for-4.
William Jewell sophomore center Dillon Deck posted 16 points and eight rebounds, while Dwight Sistrunk and Cyril Bilong each scored 10 points apiece for the Cardinals.
The victory snaps the Flyers' six-game home winning streak dating back to the 2011-12 campaign. William Jewell is now 6-5 on the campaign and 2-1 in GLVC action, while the host Flyers fall to 7-4 on the season and 1-2 in conference play.

Ryan Jackson (Bolingbrook, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) (Bolingbrook, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) topped the Flyers with his first career double-double, collecting a game-high 18 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman forward

David Bryant (Batavia, Ill./Batavia) (Batavia, Ill./Batavia) posted 11 points in the loss.
The Flyers were cold from the outside on Thursday, as they recorded a season-low three trifectas and shot a season-low 21.4% (3-for-14) from three-point range. Lewis only turned the ball over 10 times on Thursday, but the Cardinals were able to score 17 points off of the miscues, 13 of which came in the second half. Conversely, Lewis only scored five points off of William Jewell's 11 turnovers.
Thursday's contest featured 17 lead changes with Lewis taking their final advantage at 61-60 with 2:40 left in regulation following a Bryant three-pointer.
William Jewell answered with five straight points over the next 1:43, highlighted by a Bilong three-pointer, to take the lead for good at 66-61 with 57 ticks left on the clock.

Scott Trost said. "Give William Jewell credit, I thought they played really well.
"We're struggling to shoot the ball right now," Trost continued. "We just have to find a way to win close games and make shots."
Lewis returns to action on Saturday (Jan. 12), as the Flyers welcome Rockhurst to Neil Carey Arena for a 3 PM tip-off.
