Lewis Women's Basketball Hosts No. 23 Southern Indiana Saturday

The Flyers five-game home winning streak will be on the line.

The Flyers have used the same starting five for all 16 contests this season.
Game Notes

Romeoville, Ill. - The Lewis University women's basketball team (13-3, 6-2 GLVC) will put their five-game win streak on the line when they host No. 23 Southern Indiana (13-3, 5-3 GLVC) on Saturday (Jan. 26) at Neil Carey Arena. Tip-off is set for at 1 PM.

LAST TIME OUT - Sophomore Jess Reinhart (Normal, Ill./Bloomington Central Catholic) led the Flyers with 19 points and nine rebounds in the Flyers victory over Kentucky Wesleyan on Thursday at Neil Carey Arena. In the second half, the Flyers grabbed 11 of their 17 offensive rebounds and went 11-of-12 from the free throw line to expand their lead to 20 points.  

SCOUTING THE EAGLES - Rick Stein is in his 13th season at the helm of the USI program. Sophomore forward/center Anna Hackert leads USI with 14.8 points, 9.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists-per-game averages.

ALL TIME SERIES - The Flyers lead 30-28. 

SAME STARTIN' FIVE - The Flyers and the Eagles can both boast that their starting line-up has not changed in all 16 of the team's games this season.

LAST TIME WE MET - Last season, both teams protected their home courts. USI won 72-62 (Feb. 11, 2012) in Evansville, Ind., despite Jess Reinhart (Normal, Ill./Bloomington Central Catholic) posting a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds.

LEWIS RECEIVES VOTES IN DII POLL - The Flyers received three votes for the second consecutive week in the USA TODAY Sports Division II Basketball Coaches Poll released on Tuesday (Jan. 22). 

NATIONAL RANKINGS - Lewis jumped into the top-10 in three categories in the NCAA national statistical rankings that were released on Friday (Jan. 25). The Flyers are No. 4 in three-point field-goal percentage (38.8%) and No. 6 in field-goal percentage (45.2%) and three-point field-goal defense (24.4%). 

FLYERS STACKING UP AGAINST THE GLVC - Junior guard Alexus Grayer (Washington, Ill./Washington) tops the conference with a 46.3% three-point field-goal percentage while sophomore guard Nikki Nellen (New Berlin, Wis./Pius XI) is 2nd in the GLVC with 4.8 assists per game. 

ALL-TIMER - Senior Labrenthia Murdock (Round Lake, Ill./Round Lake) has moved up to No. 7 in school history with 83 blocks. Erin Cox (203-07) is sitting at No. 6 with 89 career blocks. Murdock's team-leading 21 blocks is second in the GLVC. 

NUMBERS VS. THE GLVC - The Flyers top the GLVC in field-goal percentage (45.0%), three-point field-goal percentage (38.6%), scoring (74.6) and three-point field-goal defense (24.4%), and are second in three-point field-goal made (93 total, 6.3 average), field-goal percentage defense (35.5%), assists (16.4 per-game average), and defensive rebounds (30.0 per-game average) in the GLVC. 

UNDERCLASSMEN LOGGIN' ON - The Flyers are an underclassmen laden squad, as the six sophomores and freshmen are averaging over 8.2 minutes per game. 

FEW TIMES TO THE LINE - The Flyers are 2-0 this season when they head to the line less than 10 times in a game. Lewis is second in overall in the GLVC in free throw attempts with 332 trips to the line. 

IT DOESN'T GET EASIER ... - The Flyers head on the road to take on No. 15 Indianapolis on Thursday (Jan. 31).
