Lewis Women’s Soccer Falls In Overtime To UW-Parkside, 1-0

The Flyers wrap up the season with a 8-7-2 season record, 6-7-2 in the GLVC

Romeoville, Ill. – The Lewis University women's soccer team fell in the 92nd minute to UW-Parkside, 1-0, on a rainy Wednesday (Oct. 30) night at Lewis Stadium to wrap up the 2013 season.
 
The Rangers scored at the 91:02 mark when Kaela Hoecherl headed in a cross by Stephanie Barsuli from the 5-yard line past Lewis freshman goalkeeper Jennifer Meyer (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport).
 
Lewis finishes the season with an 8-7-2 overall record and 6-7-2 campaign in Great Lakes Valley Conference action. The Rangers move to 11-3-3 on the year and 9-3-3 in league play.
 
"Coming off of last weekend we knew we needed a win and some help to get into the post season," Lewis head women's soccer coach Chris Koenig said. "The team battled but Parkside capitalized on a great chance."
 
"I am very proud of the effort of this group tonight." 
 
Lewis' Meyer corralled five saves while UWP's keeper Mallory Guerts handled all seven of the Flyers shots on goal.
 
The Flyers outshot the Rangers, 16-13, with a 7-6 shot on goal advantage. UWP held the upper-hand in corners, 6-1.
