Romeoville, Ill. – The No. 18 Lewis University women's basketball team heads on the road to take on Upper Iowa on Sunday (Nov. 17), for their first of three non-conference away games. Tip-off is set for 3 PM in Fayette, Iowa, at UIU's Dorman Gymnasium.

PRESEASON POLLS – The Flyers were selected as the preseason favorites to win the GLVC East Division title, picking up 11 first place votes in a poll of league coaches. Lewis begins the season tied for No. 18 in the nation with Simon Fraser University (BC) in the USA Today DII Coaches Poll, with both teams picking up 210 points. The Flyers ended the 2012-13 season as the No. 23 team in the nation.
LAST TIME WE FACED OFF – The Flyers defeated Upper Iowa 86-75 in a Dec. 12, 2012 match-up at Neil Carey Arena. Coming off the bench for the Flyers, sophomore forward
Mariyah Brawner-Henley (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) scored 24 points and pulled down nine rebounds.
LAST TIME ON THE COURT - Lewis picked up two regional wins in two days at Neil Carey Arena. The Flyers defeated Saginaw Valley State, 82-76, on Nov. 9 before turning around and pulling out the victory over Northwood (Nov. 10) 76-73.
GLVC PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Brawner-Henley picked up the first Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors of the season on Nov. 11 after averaging 22.5 points, 13.5 rebounds and 3.5 blocks in the Flyers opening weekend action.
LEADING THE GLVC - Brawner-Henley leads the GLVC in rebounds (13.5 rbg) and blocked shots (3.5 bpg) and is second in scoring (22.5 ppg). Guards
Jamie Johnson (South Holland, Ill./Marian Catholic) and
Nikki Nellen (New Berlin, Wis./Pius XI) are tied for second, averaging 6.5 assists-per-game. Nellen finished the 2012-13 season No. 2 in the GLVC averaging 4.5 assists-per-game and was among the top-50 in the country.
AMONG THE CONFERENCE - Lewis is second in blocked shots, averaging 6.0 blocks-per-game, and third in assists, dishing out 21.0 assists-per-game.
MOST IMPROVED IN 2012-13 - The Flyers made the best turnaround in one season in Division II women's basketball going from an eight win year in 2011-12 to picking up 24 wins last year.
2 IN 3 – The Flyers won the program's second GLVC Championship in three seasons, and fifth overall, with a 76-61 victory over Maryville on March 10, 2013, at the Ford Center in Evansville, Ind.
REINHART REWARDS - Junior forward
Jess Reinhart (Normal, Ill./Bloomington Central Catholic) picked up Preseason Honorable Mention accolades from Women's Division II Bulletin. She was named 2013 GLVC Tournament Most Outstanding Player averaging 14.4 points and 7.2 rebounds-per-game last season.
