Romeoville, Ill. – Lewis University sophomore outside hitter Lauren O'Brien (Verona, Wis./Verona Area) led the women's volleyball team with 10 kills and two block assists in the Flyers 3-0 (25-16, 25-9, 26-24) sweep of William Jewell on Sunday (Nov. 3) at Neil Carey Arena.
 
Lewis improves to 18-8 on the year and 11-2 in Great Lakes Valley Conference action while William Jewell falls to 2-23 for the season and 2-11 in league play.
 
"I am really proud of the team today," Lewis head women's volleyball coach Lorelee Smith said. "They came out with energy and a desire to keep the ball off our floor.
 
"They stayed aggressive so the points came a little easier than they usually do in a Sunday match."
 
Redshirt sophomore right side hitter Alexis Davito (Crest Hill, Ill./Lockport) picked up eight kills while sophomore outside hitter Cassidy Parsons (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) chipped in six kills and 11 digs. Redshirt senior setter Vivian Pritz (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Township) dished out 22 assists and had five assists.
 
Lewis redshirt junior outside hitter Kim Vertin (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Central) collected six kills in the first set while junior setter Leigh Barea (Battle Creek, Mich./Harper Creek) added 12 assists in one set of play. Redshirt freshman libero Nicole Yuede (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell North) had 12 digs.
 
The Flyers hit .246 collecting 44 kills with 15 errors in 118 attempts while holding the Cardinals to .010 hitting percentage (21 K, 20 E, 100 TA).
 
The Cardinals' offense was led by Christina Pratt's five kills while Kelsey Wagner had 11 digs and three kills. Setter Caitlynn Hayter had nine assists, four digs and two kills. WJC libero Katie Damgar had a floor-high 17 digs.  
 
The Flyers travel to Rolla, Mo., to take on Missouri S&T on Saturday (Nov. 9) with first serve at 5 PM.
