Romeoville, Ill. - Lewis University junior guard Ryan Jackson (Bolingbrook, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) recorded a double-double of a season-high 29 points - including his 1,000th career tally - and 10 rebounds to lift the No. 22 Flyers to the 89-71 non-conference victory over Trinity Christian at Neil Carey Arena on Tuesday (Dec. 31) afternoon.

Jackson scored 20 points in the opening half and converted his first five three-point attempts - which ties a career high. For the game, Jackson was 9-for-13 from the field, 5-for-7 from long range and 6-for-7 from the charity stripe. He is the 38th player in school history to reach the 1,000-point plateau for the Flyers.

"Ryan is obviously a very, very good scorer," Lewis head men's basketball coach Scott Trost said. "The main thing with Ryan is that he wants to win.

"I'm happy for Ryan because he works extremely hard and it's a ncie honor for him."

Jackson's backcourt mate Jeff Jarosz (Lyons, Ill./Morton) had 15 points, four steals, four rebounds and three assists on 6-for-9 shooting. Flyer forward Julian Lewis (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) had 11 points and six rebounds, while sophomore center Kyle Nelson (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North) contributed 10 points and three blocked shots.

With the win, Lewis (8-0) extends its winning streak to eight and completes the non-conference portion of their schedule undefeated. Tuesday's contest was an exhibition game for Trinity Christian.

Trinity Christian reserve guard Logan Vos (3 treys) topped the Trolls with 15 points and eight rebounds. TCC freshman guard Jared Jones hit four trifectas to finish with 14 points, while classmate Joe Hehir chipped in 10 points and two three-pointers.

All of Vos' 15 points came in the first half, as Trinity Christian took a 45-44 lead over the Flyers into halftime. The Trolls also took advantage of their free throw opportunities, as they converted 15-of-17 attempts in the opening stanza.

That lead was short-lived, as Lewis opened the second half on a 27-7 run over the first 10 minutes to put away the game. Nelson, who scored all 10 of his points in the second half, pitched in nine tallies during the run to pace the Flyers.

Jackson's 10 rebounds helped Lewis to a 44-33 advantage on the glass. For the game, Lewis shot 51.7% (31-for-60) from the field, including a 64.3% (18-for-28) performance in the second half.

Lewis opens Great Lakes Valley Conference play on Friday (Jan. 3), as they welcome Truman State to Neil Carey Arena for a 7:30 PM tip-off.
