Lewis Women's Basketball Takes On Indianapolis Thursday

Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM.

Romeoville, Ill. - The Lewis University women's basketball team (18-5, 11-4) sits in first place in the Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division as they welcome Indianapolis (17-6, 10-5) to Neil Carey Arena on Thursday (Feb. 21) for a 5:30 PM tip.

     Live stats, audio and video streaming of Thursday's game can be found at www.LewisFlyers.com. Thursday's contest can also be heard on WJOL (1340 AM) with Mark Vasko providing the play-by-play action for the Lewis Sports Network. The game will also be broadcast on WLRA (88.1 FM) with Jesse Hardacre and Scott Turek on the call.
 
LAST TIME OUT - Lewis recaptured first place in the GLVC East Division with the Flyers' 62-50 win over McKendree on Feb. 16. Sophomore forward Jess Reinhart (Normal, Ill./Bloomington Central Catholic) scored 22 points and had 8 rebounds while senior Labrenthia Murdock (Round Lake, Ill./Round Lake) chipped in 13 points.
 
ALL TIME SERIES - The Greyhounds hold a 34-29 lead.
 
LAST TIME WE MET - The Flyers defeated the Greyhounds in double overtime 78-75 on Jan. 13. Reinhart netted her third double-double of the season, scoring 25 points and pulling down 10 rebounds, as well as tallying three steals, three assists and blocked a shot. She made a lay-up and two free throws to seal the victory in the second overtime.
 
SAME STARTIN' FIVE - The Flyers can boast that their starting five has remained the same throughout the season.
 
LEWIS RECEIVES VOTES USA TODAY DII POLL - The Flyers received 27 votes in the Feb. 18 edition of the USA TODAY Sports Division II Basketball Coaches Poll. Last week, Lewis jumped into the poll at No. 24, (Feb. 5), after three straight weeks of receiving votes. The last time Lewis was nationally ranked was in the 2006-07 season.
 
NATIONAL RANKINGS - Lewis tops the nation in three-point field goal defense, holding teams to 23.4% from beyond the arc, according the NCAA Statistical Rankings released on Monday (Feb. 18). 
 
STACKING UP AGAINST THE GLVC - Sophomore guard Nikki Nellen (New Berlin, Wis./Pius XI) is second in the GLVC with 4.9 (112 total) assists per game while junior guard Alexus Grayer (Washington, Ill./Washington) is second in three-point field goal percentage 41.6% (42-for-101).

TURNIN' IT AROUND - As of Feb. 20, Lewis has had the best turn-around in Division II women's basketball from last season. After only winning eight games last season, the Flyers has already won 18 contests.
 
ALL-TIMER - Murdock has moved into 6th-place in school history with 91 career blocks. Jackie Wayne (1987-91) is No. 5 all-time with 97 career blocks. Murdock also became the Flyers' 19th member of the 1,000 Point Club, going over the plateau in the double overtime victory at Indianapolis on Jan. 13. 
 
NUMBERS VS. THE GLVC - The Flyers top the GLVC in scoring (72.3) and three-point field-goal defense (23.4%) and are second in defensive rebounds (30.0 per-game average) and blocked shots (4.3 per-game average).
 
SOPHOMORE TOUCH - Reinhart is the first sophomore since the 2008-09 season to lead the Flyers in scoring (14.7) and rebounds (7.0). In the 2008-09 campaign, Jenny Turpel led the Flyers with 18.5 points and 6.9 rebounds-per-game.
 
THE COMEBACK - The Flyers 77-65 victory over Bellarmine on Feb. 14 was the second time this season that the squad erased 10-plus point deficit to win the game. The other time was in the team's 78-75 double overtime victory at Indianapolis on Jan. 31.
 
HOME SWEET HOME - The Flyers' nine-game home win-streak, including a perfect 7-0 against GLVC teams, is the longest since the 2009-10 campaign where the squad dropped two games at Neil Carey Arena before going 11-0 to close out the season.
 
GRAYER FROM BEYOND THE ARC - Grayer has the 10th best single-season three-point field-goal percentage in Lewis history, shooting .416 (42-101). She also sits fifth all-time in program history with a .387 three-point field-goal percentage (82-212). Amy Frey (97-99) is third with a .401 career three-point field-goal average (61-152).
 
REGIONAL RANKINGS - Lewis is third of 10 teams in the Midwest Region rankings that was released by the NCAA on Wednesday (Feb. 20). The next rankings will be released on Feb. 27, and March 6. The top eight teams will earn bids to the regional tournament.
