The Lewis University men's basketball team clinched a berth in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament, as the Flyers recorded a season-high 14 steals and scored 29 points off of 19 Indianapolis turnovers, on their way to the 76-63 GLVC win over the Greyhounds at Neil Carey Arena on Thursday (Feb. 21) night.

Lewis' 14 steals was the most by a Flyer squad since the 2008-09 campaign, as they had 15 in a 101-37 win over Robert Morris-Springfield on December 29, 2008. Flyer sophomore point guard Jeff Jarosz (Lyons, Ill./Morton) (Lyons, Ill./Morton) tied a team-season high with four steals and added 13 points, five rebounds and four assists for good measure.

"It was a great all-around performance on both ends of the floor tonight," Lewis head men's basketball coach Scott Trost said. "We created a lot of offense from our defense and I thought Jeff Jarosz (Lyons, Ill./Morton) was the catalyst for us and he really got us going."

Lewis senior guard David Bryant (Batavia, Ill./Batavia) (Batavia, Ill./Batavia) and sophomore guard Ryan Jackson (Bolingbrook, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) (Bolingbrook, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) each scored 17 points to lead the Flyers. Bryant was 7-for-10 from the field, including four rebounds, while Jackson knocked down three trifectas and was 8-for-10 from the free throw line. The Flyers also received 15 points and a team-best five rebounds from sophomore forward Julian Lewis (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor).

With the win, Lewis improves to 16-8 overall and 10-6 in GLVC action, while the visiting Greyhounds fall to 17-7 on the campaign and 9-7 in conference play. Thursday's win gives Lewis' 10 conference victories, which they have not done since the 2008-09 campaign.

Indianapolis sophomore guard Brennan McElroy topped the Greyhounds with 14 points and eight rebounds, followed by 12 points and six rebounds from senior forward James Hollowell and 10 points and five caroms from junior guard Reece Cheatham.

As a team, Lewis converted 53.1% (26-fpr-49) of their field goal attempts and connected on 87.0% (20-for-23) of their free throw attempts. Indianapolis only managed 45 shots for the entire night, but made 51.1% (23-for-45) of their attempts.

Lewis returns to action on Saturday (Feb. 23), as they head to Rensselaer, Ind., to square off with Saint Joseph's for a 1 PM showdown.
