No. 24 Lewis Women's Basketball Battles Southern Indiana on Thursday

Tip-off is set for 5:15 PM

The Flyers look to sweep the season series against the Eagles for the first time since 2009-10.

Romeoville, Ill. - The No. 24 Lewis University women's basketball team (16-3, 9-2 GLVC) hits the road to take on Southern Indiana (15-4, 7-4 GLVC) for the squads' second Great Lakes Valley Conference match-up of the season on Thursday (Feb. 7) in Evansville, Ind. Tip-off at the Physical Activities Center is set for 5:15 PM.

LAST TIME OUT - Sophomore Jess Reinhart (Normal, Ill./Bloomington Central Catholic) led a trio of Flyers in double-figure scoring with 15 points in Lewis' 67-56 victory over Saint Joseph's on Saturday (Feb. 2) at Neil Carey Arena. Seniors Labrenthia Murdock (Round Lake, Ill./Round Lake) and Sam Rinehart (Marion, Iowa/Marion) chipped in 12 and 10 points, respectively.
 
REINHART NETS WEEKLY GLVC HONOR - Reinhart earned her second GLVC Women's Basketball Player of the Week honor on Monday (Feb. 4) after averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds on 15-for-28 (.536) shooting from the field and went 10-for-12 (.833) from the free throw line in the Flyers' two wins last week. Reinhart won the weekly award on Nov. 12.
 
ALL TIME SERIES - The Flyers lead 31-28.
 
LAST TIME WE MET - The Flyers defeated the then-ranked No. 23 Eagles 71-69 at Neil Carey Arena on Jan. 26. Rinehart posted 22 points and 11 rebounds for her first double-double of her career in the win.
 
SWEEPING THE SEASON SERIES - The last time the Flyers swept the season series against the Eagles was in the 2009-10 season. Lewis won at home 60-51 (Jan. 30, 2010) and in Evansville, Ind., 56-54 (2-28-10).
 
SAME STARTIN' FIVE - The Flyers can boast that their starting line-up has remained the same the whole season.
 
LEWIS RANKED NO. 24 IN USA TODAY DII POLL - The Flyers entered the USA TODAY Sports Division II Basketball Coaches Poll at No. 24, that was released on Tuesday (Feb. 5), after three straight weeks of receiving votes. This is the first time since the 2006-07 season the Flyers have been ranked. 
 
NATIONAL RANKINGS - Lewis is the second-best team in three-point field goal defense, holding teams to 23.8% from beyond the arc, according the NCAA Statistical Rankings released on Tuesday (Feb. 5). The Flyers are also in the Top-15 in field goal percentage (12th, 43.9%) and in three-point field goal percentage (13th, 36.7%).
 
FLYERS STACKING UP AGAINST THE GLVC - Junior guard Alexus Grayer (Washington, Ill./Washington) tops the conference with a 45.2% three-point field-goal percentage, making 38-of-84 attempts, while sophomore guard Nikki Nellen (New Berlin, Wis./Pius XI) is second in the GLVC with 5.0 assists per game.
 
ALL-TIMER - Murdock has moved up to No. 7 in school history with 85 blocks. Erin Cox (2003-07) is sitting at No. 6 with 89 career blocks. Murdock's team-leading 23 blocks is fourth in the GLVC.
 
NUMBERS VS. THE GLVC - The Flyers top the GLVC in three-point field-goal percentage (36.7%), scoring (74.2) and three-point field-goal defense (23.8%), and are second in field-goal percentage defense (35.8%), assists (16.3 per-game average), and defensive rebounds (30.4 per-game average).
 
UNDERCLASSMEN LOGGIN' ON - As an underclassmen laden squad, the Flyers have six sophomores and freshmen are averaging at least 8.1 minutes per game.
 
SOPHOMORE TOUCH -  Reinhart is the first sophomore since the 2008-09 to lead the Flyers in scoring (14.8) and rebounds (7.5). In the 2008-09 season Jenny Turpel led the with 18.5 points and 6.9 rebounds-per-game.
