Dominguez Scores Twice In Lewis Women’s Soccer 4-1 Victory Over UMSL

Romeoville, Ill. – Lewis University freshman defender Nicole Dominguez (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) scored her first two collegiate goals on Sunday (Sept. 29) in the women's soccer 4-1 victory over University of Missouri-St. Louis.
 
Dominguez scored her first goal in the 50th minute when she put in a cross by Greccia Miranda (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way Central) into the far left post. She hit the spot in the 69th minute after faking out a defender on a pass by classmate Meg Carmody (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) from the right side of the field.   
 
The Flyers move to 6-1-1 on the season and 4-1-1 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play while the Tritons fall to 4-4 on the year and 2-4 in league play.
 
"Today was a good win for our program," Lewis head women's soccer coach Chris Koenig. "We've been working on putting together a more complete game.
 
"Our midfielders and forwards did a good job possessing the ball and created some great chances for us."
 
Lewis jumped on the board in the 2nd minute when sophomore forward Lauren Grady (Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs) put in a long throw in from freshman defender Leah Manning (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg).
 
The Flyers extended their lead to 4-0 when junior midfielder Daniella DiGioia (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park) scored in the 79th minute off a pass from sophomore Jessica Chavez (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora).
 
UMSL got on the board in the 85th minute when Jessica Mincher shot  the cross by teammate Kali Thomas past Lewis goalkeeper junior Mara Bennett (Portage, Mich./Portage Central).
 
Bennett and freshman goalkeeper Jennifer Meyer (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport) both collected two saves in the victory. UMSL's Christitne Lips corralled seven saves between the pipes for the Tritons.
 
Lewis heads to Louisville, Ky., in GLVC action on Friday (Oct. 4) when they take on Bellarmine. Kickoff is set for 3:55 PM ET.
