The Flyers' kept pounding the ball down low, out-scoring the Bearcats, 40-28, in the paint. Lewis also out-rebounded the home squad, 49-39, which helped the Flyers tally 22 second-chance points while holding McKendree to only five points.

McKendree tried to slow the Lewis offense with a zone defense but the Flyers were able to wear it down, despite going 3-for-20 (.150) from long range.

"We did a decent job on the glass tonight," Lewis head women's basketball coach Lisa Carlsen said. "When McKendree went to the zone, we struggled scoring the ball from the perimeter.

"As our post-players got more involved, we found soft spots in their defense and hit our shots."

The Bearcats' offense was led by Danielle Amann-Stewa's 17 points while Brittany Willis and Caty Ponce both scored 11 points.

The Flyers stay on the road for the fourth-straight contest, when they take on Illinois Springfield in Springfield, Ill., on Saturday (Jan. 18). Tip-off is set for 1 PM at the Recreation and Athletic Center.
