Springfield, Mo. – The No. 15 Lewis University women's basketball team knew their match-up against No. 9 Drury was going to be a late-season test for supremacy in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

The Lady Panthers (21-2, 13-2 GLVC) used a five-minute scoring drought by the Flyers (19-4, 13-2 GLVC) early in the first half to build a double-digit lead and never relinquished it for an 89-70 win at the O'Reilly Family Event Center on Saturday (Feb. 15).

Sophomore Mariyah Brawner-Henley (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) paced the Flyer offense picking up her 19th double-double of the season with 20 points and 16 rebounds. Redshirt sophomore guard Jamie Johnson (South Holland, Ill./Marian Catholic) tallied 16 points while junior forward Jess Reinhart (Normal, Ill./Bloomington Central Catholic) chipped in 14 points and eight boards.

Drury shot 52.4% (33-of-63) from the floor, including seven made three-pointers, while holding Lewis to a season-low 29.0% (20-of-69) from the field. The Lady Panthers out-rebounded the Flyers, 47-37, and out-scored the Flyers in the paint, 40-27.

"We struggled tonight on both ends of the floor," Lewis head women's basketball coach Lisa Carlsen said. "I love the fight in our team, we kept playing until the final horn."

"Chances are we will see this team again down the road," Carlsen continued. "Hopefully, we can learn from this game."

The Lady Panther offense was led by Bethanie Funderburk's 23 points and nine rebounds, while Amber Dvorak chipped in 16 points. Hannah Dressler came off the bench to go 5-for-5 from the floor, including three three-pointers, to tally 13 points and pull down six rebounds, while Kylie Williamson scored 12 points and collected five rebounds for Drury.

The Flyers have three-straight games at Neil Carey Arena to close out the regular season, starting with a Thursday (Feb. 20) 5:30 PM match-up against Illinois Springfield.
