ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – #23 Lewis women's volleyball extended their win streak to 14 straight with a pair of wins on Saturday (Oct. 3) at Neil Carey Arena. Lewis topped Kentucky State 3-1 (25-15, 25-10, 19-25, 25-17) in a non-conference match to open the day. Lewis then topped rival Indianapolis 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-21) in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match later in the afternoon.
Lewis' 14-match win streak is the longest since the Flyers won 27 consecutive matches in 2009.

Maddie Seliga (St. Louis, Mo./Nerinx Hall) (12) and senior
Alexis Davito (Crest Hill, Ill./Lockport) (11) led the Lewis offensive attack in the opener against Kentucky State. Davito finished with an impressive .786 hitting percentage. Sophomore middle hitter
Aly Schneider (Granger, Ind./Penn) hit .692 with no errors and nine kills in two sets. They helped Lewis out-hit Kentucky State .302 to .023.
Kentucky State won the third set by six points to make the match a 2-1 Lewis advantage. The Flyers quickly went to work in the fourth to ensure there wouldn't be a fifth set. The Flyers earned 20 of their 25 points in the fourth set by way of a kill.
Freshman
McKenna Pierson (Ankeny, Iowa/Ankeny Centennial) dished out 32 assists while freshman
Abby Becker (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Monomonee Falls) totaled 21.
Lewis 3, Indianapolis 0 (PDF Box / HTML Box) The Flyers out-hit the Greyhounds .306 to .137. Lewis used a balanced attack with five Flyers earning seven or more kills. Schneider, Davito and Seliga each had nine kills. Senior
Cassidy Parsons (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) pitched in eight kills. Freshman
Elizabeth Hyland (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central) added seven.
Defensively, junior
Nicole Yuede (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell North) notched 15 digs while Hyland added 12.
The closet set was the third. Lewis led by as many as five at 13-8 before Indianapolis rallied to tie it at 21. Lewis took a timeout and the break paid off for the Flyers, as Indianapolis didn't score another point. Schneider had kills for two of the final four points.
"UIndy is always a huge match," Lewis head coach
Lorelee Smith said. "They are a dynamic team. They have a lot of power and you have to play really composed when they are coming at you aggressively and I think (we) did that today."
Lewis is now 15-1 (6-0 GLVC). Kentucky State is 13-6. Indianapolis is 5-11 (2-4 GLVC). The Flyers travel to UW-Parkside on Tuesday (Oct. 6) for a 7 p.m. GLVC match against the Rangers.
