No. 2 in the nation Lewis women's basketball has opened the season 2-0. The Flyers hit the road on Tuesday (Nov. 17) to play at Upper Iowa (0-2) in a 7 p.m. start. Links for video and live stats can be found on www.LewisFlyers.com

VS. UPPER IOWA - Lewis is 5-1 all-time against Upper Iowa and have played every year since 2009. The Flyers have won the last five meetings. Upper Iowa's only win came 73-71 on Dec. 28, 2009 at Upper Iowa.

OPEN CALL - After Lewis' two wins on Saturday and Sunday, the Flyers have now opened four consecutive seasons 2-0.

POTW - Jamie Johnson (South Holland, Ill./Marian Catholic) took home the first GLVC Player of the Week Award of 2015-16 after averaging 22 points per game in Lewis' wins over Saginaw Valley State and Northwood. This was her third career GLVC Player of the Week Award.

BEASTS OF THE EAST - Lewis has won the GLVC East Division for three straight seasons. In the 2015-16 GLVC Preseason Poll, the Flyers were picked to win it again.

QUARTER OR MORE - Lewis has won 14 games by 25 points or more since the last time they lost a game by 25 points (94-59 at Central Missouri on Dec. 16, 2011).

TONIGHT'S TOP 10 LIST - Jamie Johnson (South Holland, Ill./Marian Catholic) (1,408) is ninth and Mariyah Brawner-Henley (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) (1,395) is 10th in career scoring at Lewis. They both could rise up the leader board this season . For context, Darcee Schmidt (2003- 07) is Lewis' all-time leading scorer with 1,968 points. Mary Moskal (2003-07) ranks fifth with 1,761 points.

JOIN THE RANKS - Lewis' No. 2 ranking is the highest preseason ranking school history.

ONE AT A TIME – Alyssa Siwek (Palos Heights, Ill./Mother McAuley) only attempted more than one 3-pointer in a contest once last season, Nov. 22, 2015 against Upper Iowa when she took four. In eight games she finished 1-for-1 from beyond the arc. In Lewis' two games this season, she has gone 0-for-1 and 1-for-1 from beyond the arc.

3D - Alyssa Dengler (Chicago, Ill./Trinity) attempted a 3-pointer in every game but one last season, Jan. 15, 2015 vs. McKendree. Her best shooting game of the season came Jan. 8, 2015 vs. UMSL when she finished 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. She went 0-for-1 from beyond the arc in both games this season.

FETED FLYER – Earlier this year, Jessie Tennant (Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs) won the Lincoln Academy of Illinois Laureate Award, this award honors individuals whose contributions to the betterment of humanity have been accomplished in or on behalf of the State of Illinois, or, whose achievements have brought honor to the state because their dedication exemplifies the great Illinoisan whose name it bears. Only one senior student at each of the four-year institutions in Illinois are honored for overall excellence, in both curricular and extra-curricular programs.

THE COURSE TO THE COURT - The Flyers welcome sophomore Rachel Sweeney (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista) to the squad this season. Sweeney is known for her success on the Lewis women's golf team where she earned GLVC Freshman of the Year in 2014, as well as All-GLVC and WGCA All-East Region team accolades in 2015. In October of 2015 she was named the GLVC Women's Golfer of the Month. Sweeney's 75.1 career average is the best in school history.

PRIMED AND READY - Redshirt freshman Kayla Brewer (Milwaukee, Wis./Milwaukee School of Languages) and Erica Correa (Davie, Fla./The Sagemont School) redshirted in 2014-15, meaning this season is the first time they have played.

ON THE BOARDS - Mariyah Brawner-Henley (Skokie, Ill./Niles North)'s 410 rebounds last season were the most in a single season in school history. The total shattered the record she in 2013-14 at 350.

CAREER REBOUNDS - Mariyah Brawner-Henley (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) owns 940 career rebounds. She is close to becoming the all-time leader in career rebounds at Lewis. Julie Fruendt grabbed 1,043 rebounds from 1981-85.

JUST WIN BABY - Lewis' 31 wins last season were the most of any of the 34 NCAA DI or DII men's or women's basketball teams in the state of Illinois.

THOUSAND TIMES OVER - Mariyah Brawner-Henley (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) and Jamie Johnson (South Holland, Ill./Marian Catholic) both passed the 1,000 career point total on Jan. 4, 2015 at Truman State.

START EM UP - Jamie Johnson (South Holland, Ill./Marian Catholic) has started all 93 games she has played in a Lewis uniform.

SINGLE SEASON WINS - Lewis' 31 wins last season were the most in a single season in Lewis history. The previous mark was held by the 2006-07 Flyers with a 28-4 record.

JA+A+A+A+A+MIE - Jamie Johnson (South Holland, Ill./Marian Catholic) was named to the 2015 Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team. Johnson was the first Academic All-America First Team selection for the Lewis women's basketball program since Mary Moskal in 2006-07.

GLVC POTY X2 - Lewis owns the last two GLVC Players of the Year. Mariyah Brawner-Henley (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) won the title in 2013-14. Jamie Johnson (South Holland, Ill./Marian Catholic) earned the honor in 2014-15.

ON THE BOARDS - Junior Mariyah Brawner-Henley (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) ranked 10th in the nation in rebounds per game (12.1) last season and fifth in the country in defensive rebounds per game (8.8). Her 25 double-doubles were the most in the country.

DOUBLE TROUBLE - Mariyah Brawner-Henley (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) owns 52 career double-doubles. She is just the 10th player in NCAA Division II history to reach 50 career double-doubles.

BETTER AT THE LINE - Mariyah Brawner-Henley (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) improved in 2014-15 at the free throw line. She made 99-of-139 (71.2 percent) on the season after making 92-of-143 (64.3 percent) in 2013-14.

TOTALLY - Lewis set the program record for single-season total points by scoring 2,738 this season. The previous record was in 1981-82 when Lewis scored 2,332 points.

"MO" BLOCKS - Mariyah Brawner-Henley (Skokie, Ill./Niles North), or Mo to her teammates, ranks fifth all-time in Lewis career blocks with 104. She is unlikely to catch first place Julie Fruendt's (1981-85) 215. However second place Jenny Turpel's (2007-11) 123 are in sight.

FREE FOR A REASON - Jamie Johnson (South Holland, Ill./Marian Catholic) is Lewis' best free throw shooter in school history. Her .853 (290-of-353) mark bests second place     Andrea Gunnell's .828 (130-of-157). Gunnell played from 1996-98, 99-01.
