LIBERTY, Mo. – Behind a pair of 20-point performances No. 1 Lewis women's basketball kept their undefeated record intact with a 78-63 Great Lakes Valley Conference win at William Jewell on Thursday (Feb. 5) evening.

Lewis took a lead as large as 15 points in the first half before settling on a 39-27 lead at the break. Junior Mariyah Brawner-Henley (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) led the way for the Flyers in the first 20 minutes with 14 points, seven boards and three blocks in the half.

A 7-0 William Jewell run early in the second half cut the Lewis lead to four points. Senior Jess Reinhart (Normal, Ill./Bloomington Central Catholic) halted the run thanks to a layup with 16:14 remaining to make the score 48-42. Reinhart's basket slowed the Cardinals down and ten minutes later the Flyers to built their lead to 20 points after a pair of free throws by junior Alyssa Dengler (Chicago, Ill./Trinity).

Brawner-Henley finished with 20 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks for her 16th double-double of the season. She was 9-of-12 from the floor. Reinhart scored 20 points, 10 in each half, on 10-of-15 shooting.

"I thought our post players did a good job of being strong on the blocks and calling for the basketball," Lewis head coach Lisa Carlsen said. "We did a good job of working inside-out tonight."

Senior Nikki Nellen (New Berlin, Wis./Pius XI) recorded a season-high 14 points for her second straight game of double-digit points.

The Flyers shot 43.4 percent (33-of-76) in the contest while limiting the Cardinals to 31.5 percent shooting (23-of-73).

William Jewell falls to 11-9 (6-6 GLVC). Lewis improves to 22-0 (12-0 GLVC). The Flyers play at Rockhurst on Saturday (Feb. 7) in a 1 p.m. start.
