ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Flyers opened the 2015 Flyer Festival at Neil Carey Arena on Friday (Sept. 11) with a pair of wins. Lewis women's volleyball swept Ohio Dominican in the opener 25-18, 25-14, 25-21. The Flyers capped the night with a 3-1 win over Rollins (25-18, 19-25, 25-9, 28-26).

Elizabeth Hyland (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central) each had eight kills. Senior
Alexis Davito (Crest Hill, Ill./Lockport) pitched in nine. Sophomore
Aly Schneider (Granger, Ind./Penn) hit .409 with a match-high 11 kills on a .409 attack percentage.
For the match, Lewis out-hit Ohio Dominican .243 to .055. The Flyers recorded 13 or more kills in each set, while Ohio Dominican never had more than eight kills in a frame.

Cassidy Parsons (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) led Lewis with 23 digs. She was one of four Flyers with double-digit digs. They helped Lewis hold an 85-75 edge in the category. Lewis also earned key points at the net, holding a 12 to 5.5 blocks advantage.
It was a block by Davito and sophomore
Joyce Balash (Downers Grove, Ill./Montini Catholic) on match point to secure the win in a dramatic fourth set that saw the Flyers turn away one Rollins set point. The final set was the only frame with a lead change. The match featured a third set in which Lewis held a lead as large as 22-6 before winning 25-9.
Lewis out-hit Rollins .188 to .044. Hyland led Lewis with 13 kills while Seliga added 12 kills. Davito and Parsons each recorded three aces.

"As the season has gone on we've gotten better and built chemistry with each match," Lewis head coach
Lorelee Smith said.
Lewis improves to 5-1 with the two victories. Rollins falls to 1-5 while Ohio Dominican is now 4-3.

The Flyers are in action on Saturday at the second and final day of the Flyer Festival. Lewis plays Malone at 2:30 p.m. and Minnesota State at 7 p.m.
