Mackenzie Fuller (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) recorded a goal and two assists to lift the Flyer women's soccer team to the 3-1 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over Illinois Springfield at Lewis Stadium on Sunday (Oct. 2) afternoon.
With the win, Lewis improves to 5-5-1 overall and 3-4-1 in GLVC action, while the visiting Prairie Stars fall to 6-5 on the campaign and 3-5 in conference play.
Fuller, along with redshirt senior
Jessica Chavez (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora), assisted on a first half goal by junior forward
Angela Toritto (Wood Dale, Ill. /Immaculate Conception) in the 24th minute.
She then assisted on the game-winning goal by freshman defender
Karlie Cummins (Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington Hills ) at the 50:53 mark and notched an insurance goal in the 84th minute.
UIS outshot the Flyers, 11-10, but Lewis held a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal.
Lewis returns to action on Friday (Oct. 7), as the Flyers head to St. Louis for a 5 PM showdown with Missouri-St. Louis.
