Romeoville, Ill. - The Lewis University men's soccer team ended its 2016 home campaign in fine fashion, as the Flyers had three different players score in the 3-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference win over Saint Joseph's at Lewis Stadium on Friday (Oct. 21).
The Flyers received goals from sophomore
Christian Goushas (Lemont, Ill./Lemont), freshman
Timm Adler (Frankenthal Rheinland-Pfalz Germany/Karolinen-Gymnasium Frankenthal) and senior
Nicholas Monteiro (Brasillia, Brazil/School of the Nations).
Goushas scored in the 17th minute, while Adler (46') and Monteiro (50') each found the back of the net in the first five minutes of the second half.
With the win, Lewis improves to 5-10 overall and 4-9 in GLVC action, while the visiting Pumas fall to 1-14 on the campaign and 1-12 in conference play.
Lewis redshirt junior goalkeeper
Philip Huang (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) made three saves in goal to earn the shutout victory.
As a team, Lewis outshot Saint Joseph's, 16-4, including a 7-3 advantage in shots on goal.
Lewis returns to action on Sunday (Oct. 23) as they take to the road for a 2:30 PM ET showdown with Indianapolis.
