St. Louis, Mo. - Maryville University broke a scoreless tie with two goals over the final 14 minutes to secure the 2-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over the Lewis University men's soccer team at Maryville Field on Sunday (Oct. 9) afternoon.
The Saints received scores from Chris Naunheim (76') and Pontus Gitselov (82') to earn the victory.
With the win, Maryville improves to 7-5 on the campaign and 4-5 in GLVC action, while the visiting Flyers fall to 3-9 on the season and 2-8 in conference play.
Lewis outshot the Saints 7-4, but Maryville held a 3-2 advantage in shots on goal.
Lewis returns to action on Friday (Oct. 14), as the Flyers welcome Quincy to Lewis Stadium for a 5 PM kickoff.
