Indianapolis, Ind. - Lewis University redshirt senior guard
Jamie Johnson (South Holland, Ill./Marian Catholic) scored 27 of her team-best 29 points in the final 25 minutes to help the No. 20 Flyers rally from a nine-point third quarter deficit and earn the 78-76 (OT) win over Walsh in the opening game of the GLIAC/GLVC Challenge, hosted by Indianapolis, at Nicoson Hall on Friday (Nov. 11) evening.
Johnson knocked down five three-pointers and dished out five assists for good measure. The Flyers also received 18 points on 8-for-11 shooting from sophomore forward
Jessica Kelliher (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North), while sophomore guard
Gabby Green (Milwaukee, Wis./Pius XI) dished out 10 assists in the win.
With the win, Lewis improves to 1-0, while the Cavaliers drop to 0-1 on the campaign.
As a team, Lewis shot 50.8% (31-for-61) from the field, while holding Walsh to a 39.7% (23-for-58) shooting performance.
Lewis returns to action on Sunday (Nov. 13), as they round out the tournament with a 12 PM ET showdown against Findlay.
