It looked like the final was going to be 4-3 when with two outs in the bottom of the 10th sophomore
Neal Tyrell (Minooka, Ill./Minooka) hit a bouncer to the third baseman. However his throw was wild and it went down right field line. Tyrell raced around to third and paused until he noticed the catcher who vacated home to back up the throw at first had yet to return to the plate. The two raced toward home and Tyrell slid just under the tag to tie the game on the heads up play.
Chicago went back to work in the top of the 11th and put another on the board, this time on an RBI single by Ryan Krob.
Lewis freshman
Brandon Post (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove) opened the bottom of the 11th with a single. He advanced to third on back-to-back groundouts but was stranded there when a final ground out ended the game.
Michael Davis earned the win for Chicago. He is 1-0. Alex McGimpsey threw the 11th to get his second save of the year. Sophomore
Brady Kostecki (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic) took the loss in his first decision as a Flyer.
