Romeoville, Ill. - Lewis University freshmen midfielders
Timm Adler (Frankenthal Rheinland-Pfalz Germany/Karolinen-Gymnasium Frankenthal) and
John Horstman (Godfrey, Ill./Marquette Catholic) each scored second-half goals to propel the Flyer men's soccer team to the 3-0 regional victory over Upper Iowa at Lewis Stadium on Sunday (Sept. 4).
Adler scored off of a rebound of a shot by redshirt junior midfielder
Devon Amoo-Mensah (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) in the 65th minute, while Horstman was aided by passes from juniors
Tommy Donnelly (Glasgow, Scotland/Belmont House) and
Juan Elizalde (Chicago Heights, Ill./Bloom) at the 70:06 mark.
With the victory, Lewis improves to 1-1 on the campaign, while the visiting Peacocks fall to 0-2.

Philip Huang (Flossmoor, Ill./Flossmoor-Homewood) and freshman
Joe Coryell (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) stopped three Peacock shots to earn the shutout. Huang made two saves, while Coryell grabbed the other.
Lewis was the recipient of an own goal in the 13th minute for the Flyers' first score of the afternoon.
Lewis opens Great Lakes Valley Conference play on Friday (Sept. 9), as they head to Liberty, Mo., for a 7:30 PM meeting with William Jewell.
