Romeoville, Ill. - Behind the strength of three first half goals, the Lewis University women's soccer team picked up the 3-1 regional victory over Tiffin at Lewis Stadium on Tuesday (Sept. 6) afternoon.
With the win, Lewis improves to 2-1 on the campaign, while Tiffin falls to 1-2 on the season.
Lewis sophomore defender
Kianna Clark (Lake in the Hills, Ill./Crystal Lake South) scored her first career goal to open the scoring for the Flyers at the 7:45 mark. The Flyers also received first half goals from seniors
Jessica Chavez (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora) and
Meg Carmody (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg). Chavez scored in the 22nd minute, while Carmody converted a penalty kick at the 39:37 mark.
Lewis outshot Tiffin, 18-8, including a 7-2 shots-on-goal advantage.
Lewis returns to action on Friday (Sept. 9), as they open Great Lakes Valley Conference action against William Jewell in Liberty, Mo. First kick is set for 5 PM.
