Lewis Men's Hoops Shoots Way To 94-73 Win Over UIS

Simelton, Blaylock and Wilson combine for 64 points in win; Flyers shot 52.2% from field and knock down 10 three-pointers.

Romeoville, Ill. - The Lewis University trio of Miles Simelton (Oswego, Ill./Oswego), Delaney Blaylock (Wyoming, Mich./Godwin Heights) and Cristen Wilson (Cleveland, Ohio/John Hay) combined for 64 points as the Flyer men's basketball team scored 90+ points for the second-straight game on their way to the 94-73 win over Illinois Springfield at Neil Carey Arena on Saturday (Jan. 28) afternoon.

Simelton and Blaylock both scored 20+ points for the second-straight contest. Simelton recorded 25 points on 10-for-19 shooting, including three trifectas and a game-high five assists, while Blaylock was 8-for-15 from the field with three treys to finish with 20 points.

Wilson finished with a season-high 19 points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds. Lewis sophomore center Frank Vukaj (Davison, Mich./Davison) finished with 10 points and a career-high six blocks. It is the most blocks by a Flyer player since Marty Strus achieved that feat on February 12, 2009.

With the win, Lewis improves to 13-8 overall and 8-3 in GLVC action, while the Prairie Stars fall to 7-13 on the campaign and 2-9 in conference play.

The Flyers shot 52.2% (36-for-69) from the field and 38.5% (10-for-26) from three-point range, while committing a season-low six turnovers. Lewis forced 15 UIS turnovers and held the Prairie Stars to a 39.3% (22-for-56) shooting performance and a 41.7% (10-for-24) from beyond the arc.

Lewis returns to action on Thursday (Feb. 2), as the Flyers head to Liberty, Mo., for a 7:30 PM tip-off against William Jewell.
