Lakeland, Fla. - The Lewis University women's basketball team dropped a 70-61 decision Saturday (Dec. 16) against Florida Southern at Jenkins Field House.
Jessica Kelliher (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North) poured in a game-high 20 points, going 7-for-14 from the field and grabbing six boards.
Rachel Hinders (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston) joined Kelliher in double figures, finishing with 10 points.
Lewis as a team shot 40.7% (22-for-54) from the field.
There were 13 lead changes in the game and it wasn't until the end of the third quarter when the Moccasins built a nine-point lead, 52-43.
Lewis battled back in the fourth to bring the game to within one at 58-57 with 4:13 remaining on a
Katie Gardner (Franklin, Wis./Pius XI) three-pointer, but could not retake the lead.
With the the win Florida Southern moves to 8-3, while the Flyers move to 7-4.
Lewis will travel to St. Petersburg, Florida, to take on Eckerd on Sunday (Dec. 17) in its final game before Christmas.
